இத்தலத்தில் காவிரி, பவானி, அமுதநதி என்னும் மூன்று ஆறுகள் கூடுவதால், கூடுதுறை என பெயர் பெற்று, தென்னிந்தியாவின் திரிவேணி சங்கமமாக திகழ்கின்றது. இங்கு சங்கமேஸ்வரர் சுவாமி சுயம்பு மூர்த்தியாக அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். இத்தலத்தில் சைவ, வைணவ சமரச ஞான உணர்விற்கு அடிப்படையாக இங்கு அருள்மிகு சங்கமேஸ்வரர் சந்நிதியுடன், அருள்மிகு ஸ்ரீதேவி பூதேவி சமேத ஆதிகேசவப் பெருமாள் சந்நிதியும் உள்ளது. இங்கு முன்னோர்களுக்கு திதி கொடுப்பதும், திருமண தடைக்கு நாகதோஷம், செவ்வாய் தோஷம், பரிகார செய்வதும் சிறப்பாகும். பக்தர்களின் நோய்களைத் தீர்ப்பதில் இங்குள்ள அருள்மிகு ஜுர’ஹரேசுவரர் ஆயுஷ் தீர்த்தம், ஸ்தலம், மூர்த்தி என மூன்றும் சிறப்பு பெற்று புண்ணிய ஸ்தலமாக விளங்குகிறது. கேட்டார் வினை கெடுக்கும் திருநணாவே என்று திருஞானசம்பந்தர் தமது பதிகத்தில் கூறுகின்றார் இத்தலத்தில் எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும் சிவபெருமானை வழிப்டோருக்கு எவ்விதத் தீங்கும் நண்ணாது (அணுகாது) என்ற கருத்தில் இவ்வூர் நண்ணா, நணா என்றாயிற்று. இறைவனை நண்ணாவுடையார் என்று கூறப்பெறுகிறது தலபுராணம்.
Thala Virutcham
In the south-west corner of the auspicious Sangameswarar shrine of this temple, there is a Ilanthai tree in the Eluntharulum Sthala Virucha Vinayagar shrine.
Services
Annadhanam: The Annadhanam, scheme for pilgrims implemented in this templeto be fed regularly at 12.00 noon daily. Daily 100 persons are fed under this scheme during weekdays Monday to Thursday at a cost of Rs.35/per head costing Rs.3500 per day. Donors may contribute the above amount and participate in this scheme. The donors for the above schemes can avail Income Tax deduction (under section 80G)of IT.Act.

River Ghat / River Banks
For the welfare of the devotees Ghats has been constructed to have holy bath in the river banks of Cauvery.
Silver Chariot
After Sayaratchai Poojai, Silver Car procession takes place at 6.00 p.m In the outerprakaram of the temple. Devotees can participate in the procession on the payment of Rs.1000-. 5 (Five) persons are allowed for a ticket
Wheel Chair
Two wheelchairs 3 in number are currently being used in good condition for the devotees and elderly who visit the temple to worship the swamy
Drinking Water R.O.
In this temple pure drinking water facility is provided for the devotees in Annadhana Mandapam and in kooduthurai area.
Dress Change Room
At Kuduthurai, where the Kaveri and Bhavani rivers confluence, there is a changing room where women can change their clothes after taking a holy dip.
Parikara Mandapam
This temple is famous for Parikara Poojas. There are Darpana Mandapa and Parikara Mandapa for conducting special Poojas.
Accommodation Facility
For the welfare of the devotees from outside of the city. ‘Yatris stay house’ has been constructed. In this house, there are 14 rooms and 7 cottages.
