Others: Avoor is a Thevara temple located 12 kilometers from Kumbakonam. There is a Pasupatheeswarar temple here. The name of the Lord is Pasupatheeswarar. In this temple, two goddesses, bearing the names Pangajavalli and Mangalambikai, are enshrined.The main feature of this temple is the Pancha Bhairava idols. All five Bhairavas are seated on the same pedestal.
When the goddess Mangalambika was installed in this temple, the Pancha Bhairavas emerged from the homa. They were also installed.It is said that if you perform the rituals, the curse of the father will be removed. Accordingly, the Pancha Bhairavas were installed. By worshipping the Pancha Bhairavas, the curse of the father of King Dasharatha was removed. Therefore, this place is considered a place for the removal of the curse of the father.
