Purathanam: While churning the milk ocean, the Mandhara hill used as the stick (mathu) began to sink. To bring it out, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Kachaba-tortoise to help the Devas. He came to this place, d a spring, bathed and prayed to Lord Shiva in the endeavour. As Lord Shiva helped Vishnu, hence named Kachabeswarar There are two temples in the same place. Arulmiku Kachabeswarar Temple and Arulmiku Ishtasitheeswarar Temple. Vishnu Durgai Amman shrine located in the temple is very old and proud. Every year the Chitrai Utra festival is held well.

Services

Annadhanam: The scheme of giving food to fifty persons daily has been implemented since 14/01/2006 and is going well. Rs.1750/- for fifty persons per day and fixed deposit fund is Rs.35,000/- as per Annadan Scheme. The alms will be given on birthdays, wedding anniversaries and any other date that the sevaarthis prefer.

Istasithi Thirtham: It is close to Ishtasiddhis. Ishta Siddhi is the solution.
