Others: Lord Shiva is the SuyambuMoorthy As This is The avatar place of mother mahalakshmi. She is endearingly named Mazhalai Mahalakshmi . Koraka, one of the Siddhas, was defeated by the curse of the gods. He worshiped the Lord here to get rid of his illness. Lord Shiva blessed him by removing his visual ailment.
As he was blessed by Goraka Siddha, he got the name Siddhanatheshwara. In the Swami Goshta, there is a sculpture of Goraka worshiping Shiva. Nearby is Medavi Maharishi, who used to do penance here. People with skin diseases anoint the body with ghee and apply it on Korakar, Full Moon and Thursdays. It is believed that this cures the disease.
