Historical
One of the oldest temples in South India, rich in architecture and sculpture, this temple has been built centuries ago by the Naikka kings of Chola, Heisala and Vijayanagara on an area of about 24 acres with nine towers and 5 prakaras. The East Rajagopuram located at the main entrance of this temple is the second tallest tower in South India with a height of 217 feet and 13 levels and 13 kalasam. The Gopuram was built by King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara. History of Vallala Maharaja Annamalaiyar appeared as a child to Bhosala king Veeravallala Devar who was mourning his childlessness and promised that after the death of King Sokara, he is still doing the Eam works that he will perform the funeral rites. It takes place in the month of Masi in a town called Pallikondampattu and Vijayanagara Emperor Krishna Devaraya Maharaya with the consent of the Saivite priests in the Throat Mandal built the present 1000 kaal mandapam, Vasanthan Thirukum and 13 level gopuram at the place where the 1000 kaal mandapam is now located in this temple. A book mentions that. The inscription painted on the 4th prakara wall going west along the southern side of the wooden tower of this temple tells the world that a huge earthquake occurred in this town around the 17th century and the wall on which this inscription is written collapsed completely and then it was rebuilt by cutting down the stones as an important historical. Brahma lied that he had seen the shown of siva by using Thalambhu as a false witness and hence the myth that Brahma lost his own temple and this is the proud place where Lord Shiva gave his place and stood as Ardhanareeswarar for Ambikas request. Tiruvannamalai is such a special place which gives salvation to derotees who think about it. In this place four people have sung hymns as hymns. Manikkavasakar came to Thiruvannamalai and stayed for a long time and composed Thiruvembha (20) hymns and Thiruvammana hymns in Margazhi for Saivism. A temple for Manikkavasaka can still be seen today at Adiannamalai on the Krivalabathi. Saivas believe that the mountain in this place is immortal in all ages and that this mountain is Lord Shiva himself. This is why they practice crawling up this mountain. Climbing the hill like this is called Krivalam. A scientist named Dr. Birpal Sakhani has said that this mountain is 260 million years old. There are Ashtalinga temples and Samadhis of Ramana Maharishi, Seshadri Swami, Visiri Sami etc. on Makala Valam Kriwalabathi. Although people cirucumbulate the hill on all days, cirucumbulating on a full moon day is considered best. On the full moon, innumerable siddhas walk around Annamalai, the power of the siddhas is manifested, the herbal air of the mountain gives peace to the mind and benefits the body, so on the full moon, lakhs of devotees come to the temple to solve their problems, visit Annamalai and then go around Krivalam to benefit.
Thala Virutcham
The tree of happiness is situated as the crown tree in the third prakaram. In this long-standing place, the south-faced deity Dakshanamurthy is also seated, followed by Ganesha of Mahizhamaram towards the east. We also get a glimpse of the south face deity Dakshanamurthy. Jalakandeswarar sits nearby. If we stand in the east direction on this platform we can see nine towers. This is a very rare episode.
Others
Muruga is the first god The first place to enter the temples is the Ganesha shrine. But there is a shrine of Murugan here. Devotees worship him first. The poet Sampanthan asked Arunagirinathar to show Murugan in person and despised Arunagirinaths devotion. As Arunagirinathar prayed to Lord Muruga, he made an appearance on a pillar in the 16-gall hall here. Hence he got the name Kambathaliyanar (Kambam means pillar, Ilayanar means Murugan). Light the Moksha Deepam In this temple, on the top of the East Rajagopuram, the light lamps are placed specially for the deceased to attain moksha and on the day of cremation in the name of the dead, or on the day of Emakiriyai, or on the Tithi, Moksha Deepam is lit in ghee or linden oil according to their prayers. This is the best prayer in any temple. Construction of sugarcane cradle When a child is born, to childless people after praying to Annamalaiyar, come to the temple and offer prayers to the priest, bring bundles of sugarcane, tie a cradle with a new saree, lay the baby in it and circumbulates the mada veethis. Bhairava who suppresses arrogance The Kala Bhairava shrine is situated on the Brahma Tirthakarai of this temple. His idol is carved in one stone with weapons in eight arms, crescent moon and Tiruvatshi on the head with Kapala garland. Arrogance you can pray to him to suppress arrogance. Proud of Nandi A special puja is performed to Nandi here on Matup Pongal. On that day nandhi will be adorned with all kinds of vegetables, fruits, sweets, balkaras and garlands of all kinds of flowers will be put on and worshipped. At that time, Annamalaiyar would get up in front of Nandi and show him the importance of his vehicle. Four Faced Lingam Lord Shiva is displayed here in a separate shrine in the name of Brahma Lingam. This lingam is consecrated on the basis that Brahma worshiped Shiva here. Brahma with his four faces is always reciting the Vedas. To signify this, there are four faces on the four sides of this lingam. Students can pray to him to excel in studies. Sentura Ganesha Just like Anjaneya is decorated with senturam, they decorate Vinayaka in this temple with senturam. When Ganesha slayed the demon Sambandhasura, the demons were born from his blood. So, Ganesha applied his blood on his body. Based on this, there are only four days in a year, namely tamil new year, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Thirukarthikai and one day in the month of Thai.
