Historical: Karur District, Kulithalai Circle, Marudur, Arulmigu Cellandiamman is proud to be the guardian deity. It is also called Pitariyamman. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is dedicated to the Brahmi, Maheswari, Kelamari, Vaishnavi, Varagi, Mahendri and Chamundi deities known as the Saptamadars. To the north of the temple is a Shiva temple called Ara Amuthiswarar. Therefore, this temple is considered to have originated at that time.
