The tradition of associating the neem tree with Ambal is considered to be a stable one in Tamil culture. The beautiful seppu thirumeni of a Aayiram Kannudaiyal was taken from the bark under this neem tree, which has various medicinal benefits. The mother who is currently sitting in the sub-shrine is still showing her head towards the tree. The benevolent Neem tree is worshiped as an image of Mother. The comparison of Neem tree to Mothers body, Neem leaf to Mahamari crown of fire and Neem flower to diamond tilaka on the forehead is an old phenomenon.

Prayer
This festival is held on the last Sunday of the month of Maasi, which is a grand festival that does not happen anywhere else in Tamil Nadu. On this day, in the morning from the Parvati Mandapam of the temple, the Joint Commissioner / Executive Officer, priests, temple staffs and devotees take a precession around the temple with a basket of flowers. After this, at 8.00 am in the morning, Amman pachai pattini fast begins. In an called Rakshabandhanam, all the devotees and public wear garlands and fast. On this occasion, pushpa abhishekam takes place at Lord Ambals sanctum with the flowers brought by Pratisha Ganapati. During this time, the goddess is anointed with many kinds of flowers, not only from Tamil Nadu but also from other states. Devotees are happy to see the Goddess decorated with various flowers. In Tamil Nadu this kind of poochoridhal ceremony is a sight that cannot be seen anywhere else. At 3.00 p.m., Abhishekam to the goddess takes place. After that, Sayaratsai Puja is performed to Ambal in Mahamandapam. Only green flour, coconut water and fruits are submitted in lieu of naivediya for 28 days from the first day of flower sprinkling. Also buttermilk, Panakam and Thullumavu are submitted before the goddess while performing Sayaratcha Pooja in Mahamandapam. For the benefit of the devotees, the temple is opened throughout the night. Poochoridhal ceremony for Ambal continues. Lakhs of devotees participate in the Poochorithal festival and worship the Goddess by decorating them with various flowers. People of various ethnic groups enjoy offering flowers to the goddess as much as they like. On this day, flowers are gathered all over the temple.
Prayer
Every year, from Masi last Sunday to Panguni last Sunday, the mother does severe penance during this fast. All kinds of Naivetiyas which are usually offered to Mother are not offered for 28 days. Only unsalted buttermilk, sugarcane drink, fresh water and cooling fruits are offered to the fasting mother. After 28 days of her fasting, the Chithirai car festival starts with the flag hoisting and on the 10th day the Chithirai car festival takes place. If you worship the mother at this time, the dosha of Rahu and Ketu will be washed away. Mother is the ruler of all the 12 Zodiac signs, so ambal wipes away all the doshas related to it. It is the perfect belief of the devotees that by worshiping Ambala during this period, Navagraha doshas will be removed as it includes Navagraha dominance and graces the Navagrahas as Navasarpas. It is customary for devotees to wake up in temples and pray to the respective idols and fast. But it is only the temple where the tradition changes and Mahamariamman herself performs strict penance by observing Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu carrying out patchai pattini viratham for the welfare of the devotees, after getting the power of icha, kriya and Gnana Shakthi Goddess blessing the devotees so that no harm befalls them. Lakhs of devotees visit this Temple to see Ambal dressed in yellow and observe such a patchai pattini viratham. For the benefit of the devotees who come here, the Goddess herself saves them from the Pachipatini fast, which is an auspicious thing that cannot be seen in any other temple in the world. In this Thiruthalam, the mother appears as a huge self-confessed figure in Shivapada, in Sukasana, with golden hair, with a thousand million sun rays, saffron mane with golden hair, with diamond ornaments, shining more perfectly than the sun and the moon, with the light of grace in her eyes, as a kind face, not only for those who seek mother as mother, as the primary source of power, but also to protect the country, protect the lives of the earth. Like pomegranate face with yellow dress. Dressed up and offering scented flowers to the Thirumeni, the Mother performs penance towards the Trinity, to remove the sin of killing Mayasura, and for the goodness of the world. Amman fasts for a 28-day for the devotees health, wealth and prosperity and they get all the blessings.
