Prayer: Lord Shiva As The Mother:- The temple is called Thayumanaswamy, because of the presence of god as a mother and looked for safe delivery. The women who pray here are blessed with safe delivery. Dhanaguptha lived with his wife, Rathnavathi on the Thiruchira hill. Rathnavathi, who has been living sweet morital with Dhanaguptha, has become a devoted Mother of lord Sevvanthinathar in thiruchira hill every day. She told her mother to come to see the childbirth early.

The mother departure from Boombukar with necessary medicines and oils for her daughterrsquos delivery was hampered by the flooding of the Cauvery on the way to Thiruchira hill. She prayed to lord Sevvanthinathar as her mother did not come close to giving birth. Then lord Sevvanthinathar came as her mother and took care of Rathnavathi and her new born son for seven days. The real mother came after the Cauvery water front. She wonders who the real mother is.
