The temple is named after the goddess Veerattai Amman, who carries eight weapons in her eight arms and faces north. Karuppaswamy, the guardian deity of Goddess Veerathai, is seen facing east. Veerathai Amman is located towards the south towards the Horse Goddess as her vehicle.
