Historical: The temple dates back to the time of Rajaraja Chola I 1000 years ago. The village was known as Singalandapuram in ancient times. Rajaraja I was nicknamed Singalandan because he conquered Sri Lanka.Rajaraja I was nicknamed Singalandan because he conquered Sri Lanka. The village was established in the memory of Rajaraja Chola I.
