Temple Specialty

  • Thala Virutcham

Aswathamaram Tirupullani was Mundarpai grass forest for 73 Chatur Yugas. Here the ancestors called Pullavar, Acharya and Kalavar also performed penance towards Tirumala. Delighted by the penance of the sages, Perumal appeared before them as Ashwatthama. The Maharishis, who were delighted to see it, requested him to appear in his true form. In accordance with their request, Thirumal Sridevi appeared as Sri Adi Jagannathan as Bhumadevi Samethar. It is famous for those who are barren to get a son if they drink Amutin (Palpayasam) after making Nagapratishtha around 12 rounds (Pradtsana) of the Tlavirtsam Ashwathamaram (Royal Tree) in this temple.

  • Prasadam

Thirukannaamudhu Dasaratha Chakraborty gave birth to Rama as his son after receiving the Moolamantra Upadesha of Sri Adi Jagannath Perumal. Dasaratha performed the Putragameshti Yagya and gave the payasam from the sacrifice to his wives and they ate it, thus the Rama brothers were born.

  • Holly Tank

It is very special to take a dip in the chakratheertha in front of the temple, then take a dip in Adisetu and bathe in Samutharakarai. Devotees from surrounding villages and outlying places come in large numbers on Adi and Tai Mahalaya Amavasi days to bathe and offer tarpanam to the ancestors.
