Ithalam is a sub-temple of the Tirunelveli Nellaiyappar Temple and is one of the six congregations of Nellaiyappar. As it is one of the dance congregations of the Lord, there is no separate theertham or tala virutsa for this temple.
Prayer
Inside the temple, there are earlier manor inscriptions engraved on the pillars of the temple than the Uttiramerur inscription which mentions the Kudavolai system. Avani Moola Thirunal is very special here. There is a seven feet high granite pillar in front of the Ambalavanar temple which is worshiped as Thiruvadi Pothi. Mentioned in Tirunelveli Gazetteer compiled by H R Bat Department. The inscription on the pillar is made of handwriting. So that it could not be read.
