Among the six houses of Lord Murga, the second house is called as Tiruchendur. It is a holy place where Lord Muruga conquered Surapadman and took oath of victory and worshiped Lord Shiva. It is a spectacular sight to celebrate that victory here every year in the month of Aippasi as the Kanda Shashti festival.
Prasadam
Package contains: 1. Puttamuthu 100G 2. Ilai Viboothi 1Nos 3. Moolavar and Shanmugar Photo 1Nos Contact No: 04639242221
Prasadam
The vibhuti usually offered as prasad in the Murugan temple is very magnificent. Thus, Vibhuti, which is given in pannier leaves, is a medicine that cures diseases. Lord Muruga has twelve arms. Similarly, there are 12 nerves in the leaf of Panneer tree. Panneeru leaf is later known as Panneer leaf. Paneer leaf looks like Murugans vine. Paneer leaf has Vedic magical powers.
Prayer
Lord Vinayaga who is the Elder brother of Lord Muruga, takes the form of an elephant and chases Valli to reunite him with his younger brother. Valliammai was afraid of him and hid in the cave. That scene is realistically distilled here and we are witnessing it. Valliyammai appears in this Sannithi as the mother who removes the marriage bar of women born and gives marriage and all healthy life. She is a motherly Ambal who bestows the blessing of children on those who do not have child wealth.
Prayer
The pancha lingam is placed behind the Moolavar to be worshiped through a small gate. Five lingams are located on the same plinth, so they called as Pancha Lingam. These lingams are believed to be worshiped by Lord Muruga himself.
Holly Tank
In olden days in Tiruchendur it was in practice for pronouncing 24 Gayatri mantras letters. Twenty four theertham was available. Among this, the theertham known as Kanthapushkarani is know as Nallikinaru. The above Nallikinaru is available in the south side of the temple. Here alone the devotees take bath before Dharshan. Nallikinaru seems to be a small well inside of a big well having one square feet area and seven feet depth. The spring upcoming from the well have no saline taste and is in drinking water taste. The well formed due to the grace of Lord muruga and the devotees who take bath in the well will obtain all the benefits of God Muruga. Devotees can take bath with free of charge.
