Prayer: Casting off evil eyes is the most significant prayer in this temple. There is a small iron Vel in this temple known as Velvilangu. It is believed that prayers done with Velvilangu will ward off all evil spirits and fear in the devotees. This type of worship is known as kattuvarthanam and is seen in very few temples. This temple is also noteworthy for performing poojas to the new vehicles and all heavy vehicles.
