  • Purathanam

    This temple called piravaneri thalam. God siva appeared here and blessed kamadenu given mukthi. Lord siva danced Ananda Thandavam in this place for the Brahma, Vishnu, Durga and Kalava Munivar. Sambanthar, Appar and Sundarar rendered Devaram in various places, in that devaram they noted down the spatiality of the Patteeswarar and perur, so this place is called Vaippu Thalam. The lord siva patteeswara given mukthi to kamadenu to prove that lord siva blessed a tamarind tree and the palm tree. Those represents the mukthi thalam. the seed of piravapuli do not sprout even to day. The existence of eravapanai tree for several decades is a testimony to the attainment of blissful state. The Bramha Theertham holy water which cure somany dieses and curses. The lord siva accepted the worship of kamadenu so the cow dung never rotten in this place. Those who dies in this place their right ear facing in the sky and always hearing om namachivaya it is the resemblance of mukthi. The River Noyyal is called Kanjima nathi in the perur puranam noted down by Katchiyappa munivar. The holy river has the power of curing the curses. So, the people of this area used to do the final ceremony to their ancestors in the river side. North west side of the temple Bramha did a yagam to see the lord siva. This place is called Bramha Gundam or Thiruneer Medu. Ashes taken from the Bramha Gundam or Thiruneer Medu which solves the curses. Even now it is distributed in the river side Pillaiyar Temple has viputhi. The Archeological department of india excavated Roman coins and mummies from the river side. which tells the ancient specialty.

  • Annadhanam

    The Annadhanam scheme was started in the temple with the contribution of the bhakthas on the 15th August 2002. Under this scheme 100 persons are fed four course lunch every day of the year. Those wanting to particpate in this scheme can donate a sum of Rs 70,000 towards corpus fund and choose any day of their choice every year for giving annadhanam in their name or an one off contribution of Rs 3,500 for serving annadhanam on any one day of their choice.
